Trip Report: Comic-Con 2010 (Prt.I of II)

This is my 6th year going to Comic-Con, and every year it keeps getting better. This was the 1st year that I wanted to try to attend as many panels as possible. I usually don’t go to many panels, but this year I went crazy. Here is part I of my Comic-Con 2010 adventure. If you would like to see more of my photos, you can always checkout my Flickr page.
Wednesday- Preview Night
Preview night is the night were one can just walk around the convention floor and see what’s going down. This year, the floor was so jammed and I couldn’t take it. I didn’t stay more than an hour. My friends and I went back to the hotel and relaxed for the rest of the night. I had to get up early, for the Tron Legacy panel, so I didn’t want to stay up too late. That plan failed, because I went to bed at 1am. Anyways, enjoy some of my pictures from Wednesday night:

Thursday- Day 1
I started off my day by waking up at 5am (Yeah, I’m crazy) so I could get in line for the Tron Legacy panel, which started at 11:15am. I knew there was going to be a huge line for Hall H, which is where the most popular panels take place, and I wanted to get a good seat. I got in line around 7am, and I stood/sat in line for more than 2 hours. It was worth it though because the Tron Legacy panel was amazing. They showed some footage, from the movie, in 3d, and the trailer. The actors and director came out to talk about the movie. The panel before hand was Megamind, a 3D animated film, which looks like it’s going to suck, but it was was worth sitting through that panel, because I got to see Will Ferrell and Tina Fey. Here are some photos of my adventures in Hall H:

Olivia Wilde is such an attractive women.
After the Tron Legacy panel I had some down time, so I decided to walk around the convention floor. Here are some of my favorite cosplayers from Thursday:

After walking around the show floor, for a couple of hours, I had another panel to attend. The other panel I attended was ‘Behind the Music’. I got a chance to hear, and even chat with, some of my favorite movie and TV show composers. It was awesome hearing what some of these people had to say about their craft.

‘Behind the Music’ panel.
After ‘Behind the Music’ I had to run to Hall H to see Scott Pilgrim vs. the World panel, and made it into Hall H just in time. During the panel the director, Edgar Wright, told the fans that if they had a Scott Pilgrim button, which was given out before the panel started, that they will be able to see the film, with the cast and a free concert by the Metric, that night. I didn’t have a button but I called my friend and she told me she had an extra one. She hooked me up and I was able to see Scott Pilgrim vs. the World a few weeks before it hits theaters. All I have to say, about the film, is that it’s my favorite movie of the year. Such a great, moving, fun, and entertaining flick. Also, the Metric rocked the house. This had to be, hands down, one of the best nights of my life.

Here’s the theater where we saw the movie. I didn’t take many pictures because they made us check-in our cameras.

Friday- Day 2
I didn’t have to get up that early on Friday, but I didn’t go to bed until 2am. I got up around 7am and headed down to the convention center around 8am. The panel that I really wanted to attend was The Walking Dead, but before that panel started I had to sit through Hawaii 5-0 ,which doesn’t look that bad of a show. Here are some photos from both panels:

Grace Park will always be my cylon.

After those two panels I had sometime to eat lunch and walk around for a bit. Here are a couple of cosplayers that I thought were interesting on Friday:

I had a couple of other panels on my list, for that day, so I got in line a couple of hours early. I waited over 2 hours to try to get into those panels but I wasn’t able to. All the True Blood fans got in before me. I should have known better. Oh well…

This was the line that I waited in. The line started outside and snaked under eight other tents before going back into the convention center.
At night there was a “LOST Podcast with Jay and Jack” meet-up, which took place at a bar in downtown San Deigo. Got to meet fans of LOST and chat with Jay and Jack. I also got to meet Ryan and Jen (they host another LOST podcast, “The Transmission”). They are both such nice people, and I’m happy to have met them.

PART II coming soon…
