I have become a huge Facebook user the past few months, and this site (thank you Mashable) has become the site I go to when I want to learn how to do something on Facebook.

Twitter Gets Attacked

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I woke up at 6am this morning, because I was not able to go back to sleep, so I started to check my social networking sites. It is when I got to Twitter that I started to notice something was wrong. Twitter was not loading up at all, so I tried loading it up, from my cell, and it still was not working, so I just forced myself back to sleep. 2 hours later, when I wake up, I find out that Twitter was suffering from denial-of-service attacks. Here is what Twitter’s Tumblr blog had posted:

“Ongoing denial-of-service attack
We are defending against a denial-of-service attack, and will update status again shortly.

Update: the site is back up, but we are continuing to defend against and recover from this attack.”

Twitter was down for around 2 hours, but the question I pose is Twitter stable enough? Facebook was having trouble this morning, but Mashable believes that it might have been because of the amount of traffic going to Facebook, since Twitter was down. I know even stable sites (CNN, AOL, Yahoo, etc.) could go down by DDoS attacks, but it would take a lot more attacks to do so, and I do not believe you would see CNN, AOL, or Yahoo! down for 2 hours because that is a lot of money that would have been lost, but since Twitter does not make any money, so I guess it does not matter.

Twitter is Blowing up

I open my school newspaper, the other day, and guess what I see? A story about Twitter. Twitter is the hot new social networking site that everyone is joining but Facebook is right at their heels. Facebook released their new layout last week, which is very Twitterish. So, my question to all 5 of my readers is what social networking site do you use the most? I use Twitter more because I can keep in contact with my friends with just a text message. With MySpace and Facebook I have to sign in and check to see what my friends are up to. Twitter is just faster and easier for me.

Facebook’s New Layout Gets Rolled Out

Facebook rolled out their new layout yesterday, but it looks like not everyone has gotten it yet. Well, when I signed into Facebook today I was lucky enough to have the new layout. I, personally, like the new layout. The new layout reminds of Twitter a little bit because of the new social news stream that Facebook added. I love when websites create new layouts, but I know there will be a lot of people, on Facebook, that will cry and  shout over this. All I have to say is stop crying, and if you do not like then go to another social networking site. If you want to read more about the new layout check out Mashable’s article on it.
